• Why We Did WSCraft

We wanted to let a designer, like you, concentrate on what the designer actually should to do creating design and satisfying customers needs without involving programmers and increasing the project risks.

How does development of a full-featured dynamic Website look?

After landing a client who wants to get a dynamic Website, you usually need to involve a programmer who will be able to develop a new Website engine or adapt an existing system for the customer's needs.

At a certain stage of development, when you finish your part of the work, the programmer enters the game. If you're a freelance designer, you know how much the project success depends on your partner's professional and personal skills.

This is the moment when the programmer becomes the most critical element whose good will and knowledge let you peacefully finish the project or frustrate the entire work. Nobody but you take a responsibility for all the programming issues that occur during the project.

It is less crucial for design studios that have more human and budget resources. However, they still face challenges arisen from the necessity to handle non-standard situations, such as requirements to change the Website architecture for implementing another navigation model or creating an unexpected layout. Our 10 years experience shows that using traditional content management systems could cause wasting unplanned expenses, affecting a projects schedule or even risk to loose a client.

For instance, when a customer who ordered a dynamic database-driven Website with a 2-level structure wants to add 2 more levels with an ability to quickly change the information model in the future, it means changing the database architecture and changing the programming code. The problem was that an average client really didn't understand why you had to charge additionally this simplest update and what's the problem to do it on the fly.

Like you, we experienced similar problems and worked with customers who had rich fantasies. That's why we analyzed wishes of Web designers, customers needs, non-standard situations and traditional solutions that most of the CMS offer. The major goal was to develop software that lets a designer to unveil creativity and lift maximum restrictions arising from the necessity to program.

We wanted to let a designer, like you, concentrate on what the designer actually should to do creating design and satisfying customers needs without involving programmers and increasing the project risks.

We needed to make a designer feel free from limitations imposed by conventional pre-defined CMS modules intended for displaying a specific type of content. Using them, you had to buy and plug in additional modules each time when a customer asked you to add something that wasn't provided by the existing modules set.

We also didn't forget how much it's important for a designer to have an opportunity to freely experiment with design and invent new ways to display content.

WSCraft is a platform developed by designers for designers. Because originally we made it for using in our own projects, we did our best to make the work comfortable, painless and enjoyable. WSCraft is a very predictive system. It will never do something that you don't intend to do.

One of our designers even said once that it's so easy to make complicated things that sometimes I feel bored from the WSCraft predictability and safety.

When developing WSCraft, we turned down the concept of modules as an approach that limits a designer. WSCraft is a constructor where you define what should be a minimal structural unit. In fact, it can be any element, such as a text heading, set of controls or even an entire page. Manipulating by these building blocks, you can create Websites of any scale and almost with any functionality.

The WSCraft charm is its ability to back you up in any unexpected situation, such as customer's requirements regarding the fundamental changes of a Website structure, graphic design layout, content appearance or manipulating data on Website pages.

Today we're glad to share with you our secret weapon that helped us to successfully land and serve customers of all scales, from entrepreneurs to large businesses.
